Weather today (July 22): IMD expects rain across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and other states
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread monsoon activity across large parts of the country on Wednesday, July 22, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several states. Thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and the risk of flash floods, waterlogging and landslides are also likely in vulnerable areas.

From the Himalayan states to western, central, eastern and southern India, the monsoon is expected to remain active, prompting weather warnings for multiple regions.


Delhi weather today

According to the IMD, Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on Tuesday. The weather department has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall, with very heavy rainfall possible at isolated places across the region.

Uttarakhand weather today

The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across Uttarakhand, with heavy rainfall likely on Tuesday. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected, while landslides and flash floods remain a concern in vulnerable hilly areas.

Himachal Pradesh weather today

Heavy monsoon activity is expected to continue over Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy rainfall likely in parts of the state. Residents have been advised to remain alert, especially in landslide-prone districts.

Jammu and Kashmir weather today

The weather department has predicted isolated very heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are also expected.

Uttar Pradesh weather today

Rain activity is expected to remain active across Uttar Pradesh.

  • West Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rainfall likely, with isolated very heavy rainfall possible.
  • East Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rainfall expected.

Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh weather today

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. Very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

Rajasthan weather today

Rainfall activity is expected across Rajasthan.

  • West Rajasthan: Heavy rainfall likely.
  • East Rajasthan: Widespread rainfall is expected, with heavy rain continuing over the next few days.

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh weather today

Central India is also likely to witness active monsoon conditions.

Heavy rainfall is expected over:

  • East Madhya Pradesh
  • West Madhya Pradesh
  • Vidarbha
  • Chhattisgarh

Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal weather today

The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across eastern India.

Heavy rainfall is likely over:

  • Bihar
  • Odisha
  • Gangetic West Bengal
  • Jharkhand
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim

Moderate to intense lightning is also possible in several parts of the region.

Gujarat and Maharashtra weather today

Heavy rainfall is expected across western India.

According to the IMD:

  • Gujarat Region: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely.
  • Madhya Maharashtra: Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.
  • Konkan and Goa: Rainfall activity is expected to continue.

Northeast India weather today

Heavy rainfall is likely over:

  • Assam and Meghalaya
  • Nagaland
  • Manipur
  • Mizoram
  • Tripura

Rainfall is expected to continue across the region over the next several days.

South India weather today

Several southern states are also expected to receive rainfall.

The IMD forecasts:

  • Heavy rainfall over Kerala and Mahe
  • Heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka
  • Rain over Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and North Interior Karnataka

Gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, reaching 60 kmph at isolated places, are likely over parts of Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Karnataka.

IMD advisory

The IMD has advised residents in areas under heavy rainfall warnings to remain cautious due to the possibility of:

  • Flash floods
  • Landslides in hilly regions
  • Waterlogging in urban areas
  • Reduced visibility during heavy rain
  • Disruption to road transport

People are advised to follow updates issued by local authorities and avoid travelling through flood-prone or landslide-prone areas unless necessary.
