Weather Today
The remnants of Cyclone Montha have continued to trigger widespread rain across eastern and southern India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday (30 October) said the system has now weakened into a deep depression over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana, but rainfall warnings remain in effect for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar till Saturday (1 November).

Telangana Weather Alert: IMD Issues Red, Orange and Yellow Warnings

The IMD has issued a red alert for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) in several districts of Telangana.

Districts under the red alert include Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

An orange alert has been issued for Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Suryapet, while a yellow alert indicates light to moderate rain in Nizamabad, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

Residents have been advised to remain indoors, avoid flood-prone areas, and stay updated through official IMD advisories.

West Bengal Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain to Continue till Saturday

As Cyclone Montha weakens, its moisture-laden clouds are bringing intense rain across West Bengal, particularly in southern and northern parts of the state.

30 October (Thursday): Rain zone shifting inland towards Purulia, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Paschim Bardhaman.

31 October (Friday): Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, and Alipurduar, under yellow and orange alerts.

From 1 November (Saturday): Weather likely to improve gradually, turning partly cloudy and dry by 3 November (Monday).

The IMD has warned of possible localised flooding and landslides in hilly areas of North Bengal.

Andhra Pradesh Weather Update: Orange Alert for Coastal Districts

An orange alert remains in place for Andhra Pradesh, with the IMD forecasting heavy rainfall in Prakasam, SPSR Nellore, Guntur, Palnadu, NTR, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Eluru, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Srikakulam, and Parvathipuram Manyam districts.

Authorities have urged caution in low-lying areas, as the weakened cyclone’s remnants could still cause waterlogging and tidal surges along the coast.

Rainfall Forecast for Other States: Bihar, Jharkhand and East India

Several eastern and central states will also continue to experience rainfall over the next two days:
Bihar and Jharkhand: Showers likely to continue till Friday (31 October).
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim: Rain expected between 30 October and 1 November.
East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh: Light to moderate rain likely on 30 October.
Cooler temperatures and cloudy skies are expected across most of eastern India till the weekend.

Gujarat Weather Outlook: Light Showers till November 1

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall over Gujarat till 1 November, with isolated very heavy showers in Marathwada, Saurashtra, and Kutch regions. Thunderstorms with lightning are also possible in parts of coastal Gujarat and Kutch, though no major disruptions have been reported so far.

Cyclone Montha Weakens but Weather Impact Continues

Though Cyclone Montha has weakened significantly, its residual circulation continues to influence weather conditions across southern, eastern and central India. The IMD has advised the public to stay alert, follow local warnings, and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall spells.

Weather conditions are expected to improve gradually from Saturday, marking the end of this late-October rain phase across much of the country.
