The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a fresh spell of rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across large parts of India from August 26 to September 1. Several states are likely to receive isolated heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during this period, while thundersqualls and winds reaching up to 70 kmph are expected in parts of the east coast.

Himachal Pradesh

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely on August 31 and September 1, with isolated heavy rainfall forecast on September 1.

Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected during August 31 and September 1. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are likely on August 29 and 30.

Uttarakhand

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is forecast through August 26 to September 1. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are expected during the same period, while isolated heavy rainfall is likely on August 26 and during August 30 to September 1.

Uttar Pradesh

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected across Uttar Pradesh on August 26 and 27, with isolated heavy rainfall during August 26 and 27. East Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive isolated very heavy rainfall on August 26, while isolated heavy rainfall is forecast on August 27 and during August 31 to September 1.

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely in southwest Uttar Pradesh on August 26.

Rajasthan

East Rajasthan is likely to witness isolated thunderstorms and lightning on August 27, along with isolated heavy rainfall on August 26.

Madhya Pradesh

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected in west and east Madhya Pradesh during August 26 and 27 and across east Madhya Pradesh through September 1. West Madhya Pradesh is likely to see isolated to scattered rainfall from August 28 to September 1.

Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are forecast in west Madhya Pradesh from August 26 to 30 and in east Madhya Pradesh from August 26 to 30. Heavy rainfall is likely in west Madhya Pradesh during August 26 and 27 and in east Madhya Pradesh during August 26 and 27 and August 30 to September 1.

Northwest Madhya Pradesh may receive isolated extremely heavy rainfall on August 26.

Chhattisgarh

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely through August 26 to September 1. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are forecast from August 26 to 30, while isolated heavy rainfall is likely throughout the period.

Vidarbha

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected on August 26 and 27 and August 31 to September 1, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall from August 28 to 30.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is forecast through September 1. A thundersquall with winds of 50-60 kmph and gusting up to 70 kmph is likely on August 26 and 27.

Isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are forecast from August 28 to September 1.

West Bengal

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected across Gangetic West Bengal through August 26 to September 1. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are likely from August 26 to 30.

Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast on August 26 and from August 29 to 31.

Jharkhand

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely through September 1. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are forecast from August 26 to 30. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected from August 27 to 30.

Odisha

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is forecast through September 1. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are likely from August 26 to 28, while thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected on August 29 and 30.

Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast from August 26 to 28, followed by isolated very heavy rainfall from August 29 to September 1.

Sikkim

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall through September 1. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are forecast from August 26 to 28.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected on August 27 and 28, while isolated very heavy rainfall is likely on August 26.

Bihar

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected on August 26 and 27 and August 29, with isolated to scattered rainfall on August 28 and from August 30 to September 1.

Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are likely throughout August 26 to September 1. Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast from August 26 to 29.

Arunachal Pradesh

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is forecast through September 1, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning during August 26 to 30.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely from August 27 to 29 and August 31 to September 1. Isolated very heavy rainfall is forecast on August 26 and 30.

Assam and Meghalaya

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected from August 28 to September 1, with isolated to scattered rainfall on August 26 and 27.

Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are forecast during August 26 to 30. Heavy rainfall is likely from August 26 to 29 and August 31 to September 1, while isolated very heavy rainfall is forecast on August 30.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely from August 27 to September 1, with isolated to scattered rainfall on August 26.

Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are forecast from August 26 to 30. Heavy rainfall is likely from August 27 to 29 and on August 31, while isolated very heavy rainfall is expected on August 30.

Goa

Konkan and Goa are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall through August 26 to September 1.

Karnataka

Coastal Karnataka is likely to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall through September 1.

North Interior Karnataka is expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during the period, with isolated thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds on August 26.

South Interior Karnataka is also likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through September 1, along with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, and strong surface winds on August 26.

Gujarat

The Gujarat region is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through August 26 to September 1. Saurashtra and Kutch are also expected to see isolated to scattered rainfall throughout the period.

Maharashtra

Madhya Maharashtra is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through September 1, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning on August 26.

Marathawada is also expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during the period, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning on August 26.

Andhra Pradesh

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through September 1. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are forecast from August 26 to 30, along with strong surface winds during the same period.

Rayalaseema is also expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through September 1, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, from August 26 to 30 and strong surface winds during the same period.

Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall through August 26 to September 1. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are forecast on August 26 and 27.

Telangana

Telangana is likely to see isolated to scattered rainfall through September 1, with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, forecast on August 26.

Kerala

Kerala and Mahe are expected to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 26 to 28, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall from August 29 to September 1.
