Weather tomorrow, September 19: Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka & Rajasthan among states to see heavy rain; check state-wise IMD rainfall & thunderstorm alerts

Weather conditions are likely to remain active across several parts of India from September 19, with heavy rainfall expected in parts of northwest, central, east, west and southern India, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department said conditions are becoming favourable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from some parts of West Rajasthan around September 19.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Gujarat and its neighbourhood is also present in the lower tropospheric levels.

Weather forecast for North India from September 19

Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab and West Rajasthan are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on September 19. East Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience similar conditions during September 19-20.

East Rajasthan is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-22, with isolated heavy rainfall expected on September 19.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning during September 19-24.

Rain forecast for central India

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over West Madhya Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh on September 19.

Vidarbha is also likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning during September 19, with similar conditions expected again during September 21-24.

Chhattisgarh is likely to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during September 19-24.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh during September 22-24, while West Madhya Pradesh may receive heavy rainfall on September 24.

East India weather forecast

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall on September 19, while isolated to scattered rainfall is expected during September 20-24.

Gangetic West Bengal is likely to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during September 19-20 and again during September 23-24. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected during September 23-24.

Jharkhand is likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-23, while Bihar may receive similar rainfall during September 19-24.

Odisha is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-21, with isolated heavy rainfall expected on September 19.

The IMD has also warned of moderate to severe lightning activity over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.

Northeast India rain forecast

Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and Meghalaya are likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-23, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to see similar conditions on September 19 and during September 21-23.

Thunderstorms and lightning are likely over the northeastern states during September 19-20.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during September 19-20.

West India weather from September 19

Gujarat Region is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on September 19, while isolated to scattered rainfall is expected during September 20-24.

Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-23.

Konkan and Goa are likely to see isolated to scattered rainfall on September 19-20 and fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during September 21-24.

Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are also expected to receive rainfall during the period.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra during September 20-22 and over Konkan and Goa during September 21-22.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely over parts of western India during the forecast period.

South India rain forecast

Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during September 19-24.

Coastal Karnataka is expected to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during September 20-24, while North Interior Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka and Telangana are likely to experience similar conditions during September 19-24.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-22, followed by fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during September 23-24.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during September 19-24, with isolated heavy rainfall expected through September 22.

The IMD has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala and Mahe during September 19-20 and September 24, South Interior Karnataka during September 19-24, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during September 19-20 and September 23-24, and Telangana during September 19-24.

Gusty winds and thunderstorm warning

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely over several southern and western regions.

Gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph are likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during September 19-22.

Similar conditions are expected over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema during September 20-22.

The IMD has also forecast strong surface winds over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema during September 19-22.

Fishermen warning

The IMD has issued warnings for fishermen over parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

In the Arabian Sea, warnings are in place along and off the Somalia coast and in a few parts of the southwest Arabian Sea until September 23. A few parts of the westcentral Arabian Sea are also covered on September 19.

In the Bay of Bengal, warnings are in place over some parts of the southeast Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea until September 23. Warnings have also been issued for parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the south Sri Lanka coast during September 19-23.

The weather department has also warned of rough conditions over parts of the Bay of Bengal on September 21 and 22.
