Weather report today: Delhi likely to receive heavy showers as IMD issues yellow alert; Rains expected in Ahmedabad, Pune

Several regions across the country are expected to receive heavy rains including Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra on Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department's daily bulletin.

The national weather agency in its daily bulletin said that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced over some more parts of North Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat, some parts of Rajasthan, some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, some parts of East Uttar Pradesh, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, and some more parts of Bihar.

Delhi-NCR regions:
Bringing relief from heatwave conditions, the national weather agency expects the sky is Delhi to remain cloudy, with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms likely, accompanied by lightning. Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are forecast, which may temporarily strengthen to around 60 kmph during thunderstorms, particularly towards the evening and night hours.


For Noida, the IMD says cloudy sky to be observed throughout the day. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) temporarily reaching 60 kmph during thunderstorm towards evening/night.

As for Gurugram, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are likely, which may temporarily intensify to around 60 kmph during thunderstorms, especially towards the evening and night hours.

Pune, Mumbai weather
The people of Mumbai can expect heavy showers to continue in the financial capital as the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for June 19, Thursday.

As per IMD's forecast for the rest of the week, the remaining days of the week is expected to be dominated by cloudy skies and rainfall. Pune city is also expected to receive heavy rains, according to IMD.

Ahmedabad
The weather agency has issued yellow and orange alerts for Ahmedabad with gusty winds with thunderstorms and heavy rains expected on June 19.
