Sanju Samson, one of India's most promising wicketkeeper-batsmen, remained on the bench for the third One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in Christchurch.

Samson, who hit 36 runs off 38 balls and helped India reach 306 in the first ODI, had to give up his position in the team due to the side's imbalance. Since only 12.5 overs of play were possible and India couldn't put in new players, Deepak Hooda and Deepak Chahar, through their paces, the team management has decided to stick with the same lineup.

However, it has been another disappointing series for Samson, who hasn't been given a continuous run despite being in exceptional form in white-ball cricket in 2022.

Samson has averaged 71 at a strike rate of 105 in nine ODI innings in 2022, but with Rishabh Pant as vice-captain and Suryakumar Yadav in fine form, he had to be pulled out to make room for someone like Hooda.

Fans were once more dissatisfied as they began trending 'We want Sanju' and 'Justice for Sanju Samson,' believing that the situation had been unfair to the young batter, who, despite performing in limited opportunities, continues to warm the bench.
