According to reports, Mr Tudu, a resident of Berhampur in Ganjam district, had been visiting Koraput along with his friend Abhijit Behera to shoot videos of local tourist spots for his YouTube channel. He was using a drone camera and was reportedly standing on a rock at the time of the incident.
Sudden water release caught him off guard
Authorities at the Machakunda dam had issued a warning to people downstream before releasing water due to heavy rainfall in the Lamtaput area. However, Mr Tudu, who was filming near the waterfall, became stranded on the rock amid the surge.
As per reports , he lost balance and was swept away by the heavy current before bystanders could intervene. Some tourists and locals attempted to rescue him, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Search operation ongoing
Following the incident, teams from the Machkunda police and Fire Brigade rushed to the site and launched a search operation. Despite their efforts, Mr Tudu had not been located at the time of reporting.
