Watch: Virat Kohli's celebration with Rohit Sharma tells the story

Virat Kohli played a major role in India chasing down Australia's total in the series decider at Hyderabad.

It was a tense final over in the third and final T20I match between India and Australia. After Virat Kohli was dismissed in the second ball bowled by Daniel Sams 5 runs were still needed of 4 balls for a win.

It further boiled down to 4 runs of the last 2 balls, and when Hardik Pandya edged Sams fine to to the third man fence, the stadium erupted in a release of pent-up tension.

So did the Indian dressing room, and it was most visible in this scene. It showed Kohli seated on the steps of the pavilion along with captain Rohit Sharma waiting for the final outcome. As soon as the ball crossed the ropes, Kohli jumped up in joy and repeatedly thumped Rohit on his legs and back. A relieved skipper hugged his ace batter who had steered the chase till almost the very end.

For Rohit, who had backed Kohli so admirably during his prolonged run of poor form, it was just rewards that the iconic batter played the big role in a crucial match.

Kohli's scintillating strokeplay (63 off 48 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav's pyrotechnics (69 off 36 balls) in a 104-run partnership laid the platform for India's win in the series decider.

Chasing 187 for a win, India didn't have the best of starts as openers KL Rahul (1) and Rohit Sharma (17) were out inside the first four overs.

But Kohli and Suryakumar batted with authority, hitting boundaries and sixes at regular intervals to keep the required run rate in check as Australian bowlers struggled to find answers.

While SKY orchestrated the carnage, Kohli played second fiddle, and when the situation needed stepped in to keep the momentum going.

For Australia, Cameron Green (52) scored upfront while Tim David (54) provided the final flourish in a total of 186 for six.

India, Axar Patel(3/33) picked three wickets, while also executing a sensational run out. Yuzvendra Chahal (1/22) was also in his element, on a pitch that offered grip and turn.
