Test veteran Cheteshwar Pujara struck his third double-century in a season for Sussex County Cricket Club on Wednesday. The star Indian batter occupied the crease for more than eight hours to score 231 from 403 balls against Middlesex at the the Mecca of Cricket, the Lord's in London. Looking in tremendous form this season, Pujara is also leading his side in the absence of Tom Haine.

With this another marathon batting effort, the 34-year-old Pujara also equalled the record of India's most celebrated batter of all time. The last Sussex batter to achieve this feat at Lord's was Pujara’s compatriot Colonel H. H. Shri Sir Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji II. Popularly known as 'Ranji', who scored a double-century against the MCC 125 years ago at the same venue.

As soon as Pujara reached the milestone, the Sussex players gave him a standing ovation from Lord's iconic balcony.
