To commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the moon landing, the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shared a fascinating video that reveals that Neil Armstrong's footprints are still visible on the moon.

"Today marks the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing – the first time that humans stepped on the surface of another world. This video from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter shows the astronauts' tracks, still there after all this time," read NASA's tweet.

To mark the colossal human achievement, the Apollo 11 astronauts had also left a plaque on the moon that read, “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon Moon in July 1969 AD. We come in peace for all mankind.”

The space agency also said that their 'Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter' has been exploring the Moon since 2009. 'It has returned more data to Earth of any other planetary mission – nearly 1.4 petabytes! For perspective, that’s about half a million hours of movies,' mentioned NASA.

So far, 12 people have landed and walked on the lunar surface.
