This was led not by an Indian group but Pakistani-Americans themselves, mostly PTI and Imran Khan supporters, who didn't give Munir the desired welcome.
Overseas Pakistanis held protests in the United States during Field Marshal Munir's visit, chanting slogans and holding placards accusing him of violence and authoritarianism.
Videos circulating on social media showed placards and digital screens calling Munir a 'Mass Murderer' and carrying messages like 'Democracy dies when guns speak' and 'Asim Munir, your time is up. Pakistan will rise.'
“We’re here to protest the criminal dictator of Pakistan. Shame on every bootlicker who showed up in support of fascism—you didn’t just betray democracy, you spit on the suffering of millions,” said Nazia Imtiaz Hussain, Executive Director of The Alliance Organisation, on X.
The overseas protests, held across Washington DC, were sparked by Munir’s purported visit to the US, which the White House and Trump officials denied. They confirmed no foreign dignitaries, including Munir, were invited to the Trump-army parade. However, PTI supporters insisted he was in the country, even as Munir remained unseen.
While Munir skipped the Trump-army parade in Washington, his presence remained a point of contention, especially after pro-Munir billboards surfaced in Times Square, New York, congratulating him on his Field Marshal promotion—fueling speculation that he was indeed in the US.
