A light spell of rain in Noida on Monday morning offered much-needed relief from the heat, but also brought back old concerns about the city’s infrastructure. A part of a road near the Pathways School in Sector-100 suddenly caved in, leaving behind a large crater in the middle of the service road.


According to residents, the crater is about 12 feet wide and 15 feet deep. The road collapse has made it difficult for school-goers and daily commuters, especially those travelling with children. The incident has caused worry among locals, with many expressing concern about road safety during the monsoon.


The light rain may have cooled the air, but it also led to waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of the city. The road cave-in near the school became the most talked-about issue, with people taking to social media to share pictures and videos.


Many residents said the incident has raised fresh questions about the quality of road construction and maintenance in the area.

While people understand that heavy rain can cause damage, several locals said this was not an isolated case. Some pointed out that the Noida Authority announces monsoon readiness every year, yet issues like waterlogging and road damage continue to happen.

Due to the cave-in, traffic in the area had to be redirected, leading to further delays. Parents, in particular, are worried about children's safety while travelling to school during the rainy season.

The Noida Authority is expected to carry out an investigation and begin repair work soon. For now, the affected road section remains closed to ensure public safety.
