Watch: Two tennis stars come to blows at the end of match, umpire intervenes

Corentin Moutet, ranked 64th in the world, and Adrian Andreev, ranked 247th, shoulder-barged and shoved each other at the net

Two tennis players came to blows at the end of a match during a tournament in France, with a video of the incident going around on social media.

Corentin Moutet, ranked 64th in the world, and Adrian Andreev, ranked 247th, shoulder-barged and shoved each other at the net before the umpire rushed in to intervene.

Things got ugly after Bulgarian Andreev beat Frenchman Moutet 2-6, 7-6, 7-6, in front of his home crowd at the Open d'Orleans on Thursday.

The two players met at the net for the customary handshake at the end of the match, but the grip lasted a couple of seconds more than usual and one of them shoulder-barged the other.

The other player retaliated by shoving, the two exchanged words, and just as they were raising their hands to strike the umpire jumped down from his seat and separated the two.

The umpire was still struggling to keep the two from having a go at each other when the 19-second clip ended.

A video clip shot by someone in the stands caught the ugly action in the middle.

Moutet took to social media after the encounter, Mail Online reported, saying the fight was instigated by Andreev and that he would not want to apologise for what happened.

Moutet said he waited at the gate for Andreev as he had threatened to continue hostilities outside, but the Bulgarian did not turn up.
