A video of Sanjeev Sanyal, member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (EAC–PM), dancing to devotional songs dedicated to Lord Hanuman has gone viral on social media. The clip, filmed during the Swarajya Conclave 2025 hosted by Sangam Talks in New Delhi, showed the economist moving to Mere Kesari ke Lal bhajans in front of a packed audience.

The video was shared on X, where one user wrote: “Imagine being the guy who helps the PM run the economy, cosplays as a 10th–century shipbuilder, rewrites history textbooks, and then break dances on Ram bhajans. Yeah, that’s @sanjeevsanyal.”

“What an event and what energy! He is one of those mortals who has brilliance even in his nails! It was such joy witnessing this in person.”

Some users compared Sanyal’s manner to that of a younger person. One post read: “When I see him in videos, I see a 20–something boy enjoying various aspects of his life. Incredible writer – helped me unlearn so many things.”

Others kept their reactions brief, with comments such as: “Wow! Sirji’s got moves” and “One of the great young minds, we need more like him.”

The organisers of the event also noted the moment on social media. Sangam Talks posted: “Yesterday’s #SwarajyaConclave was a grand success! Packed hall, stellar panels, and incredible energy. Heartfelt thanks to our guests, speakers & the dedicated team behind it.”

Away from the viral clip, Sanyal has also drawn attention for his recent remarks on India’s civil services exam culture. In a podcast with chartered accountant and content creator Kushal Lodha, he questioned why many young people dedicate years to preparing for the test.

Calling it a “99.9% failure rate,” Sanyal described the practice as “a complete waste of human resource” and suggested that the country should reconsider the importance given to the exam.
