Watch: Rohit Sharma playfully tries to 'strangle' Dinesh Karthik for missing review

Cameras showed India captain Rohit Sharma playfully grab Dinesh Karthik by the neck after the wicketkeeper did not show any interest in going for a review

It is one of the most famous video clips that went out of Tuesday night's match at Mohali in which Australia downed India by four wickets.

Cameras showed India captain Rohit Sharma playfully grab Dinesh Karthik by the neck after the wicketkeeper did not show any interest in going for a review when the onfield umpire's decision wrongly went in favour of Australian batter Glenn Maxwell.

The umpire wasn't convinced there was a nick as Maxwell tried to swat a ball from Umesh Yadav which went above his head, and Karthik who caught the ball wasn't too sure there was an edge..

But India nevertheless went for a review and Ultra-edge showed there was a spike as the ball passed the bat.

After the decision was overturned and Maxwell was declared out, Rohit was seen playfully trying to strangle Karthik for missing out on that one.

Even earlier in the innings, both bowler Yuzvendra Chahal and Karthik had missed going for a review when Steve Smith was struck on the pads in front.

The video clip sparked many jokes on Rohit trying to "choke" Karthik.

Some hit out at at the captain for losing his cool, but others pointed out that this was just normal banter on the field.

In the first of three-match T20I series, Australia chased down a formidable 209-run target rather comfortably for a four-wicket win.

Put in to bat, India posted a daunting 208 for six with Hardik Pandya (71 not out off 30) and KL Rahul (55 off 35 balls) contributing.

But Australia made short work of the Indian pacers and romped home in in 19.2 overs with World Cup hero Matthew Wade (45 not out off 21) and Cameron Green (61 off 30) playing special knocks.

Australia now lead the three-match T20I series 1-0.
