Harsh Goenka has joined the online conversation around Apple’s newly launched foldable smartphone, Apple Duo, with a post that connects the device’s steep price tag to the performance of India’s stock market.

In his post, Goenka shared a humorous take on the phone’s launch, suggesting that buying the premium Apple device could come with an unusual way of keeping an eye on the Nifty and Sensex. "Swami Harshanand has advised me “Buy the newly launched Apple Duo so that you can have the pleasure of watching Nifty and Sensex falling simultaneously," said Goenka in a post on X.

iPhone Duo: Check price, specs and more

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, setting a new benchmark for premium phone prices in India. The device starts at Rs 2,99,900 for the 256GB model, while the top-end 2TB variant is priced at Rs 4,49,900. This makes the iPhone Duo the first iPhone to cross the Rs 4 lakh mark in India.

Apple’s price hike comes amid a broader increase in smartphone prices across the industry, with manufacturers facing a sharp rise in memory chip costs. The increase has been linked to strong global demand for memory components from AI data centres.

The iPhone Duo is available in four storage configurations in India:

• 256GB: Rs 2,99,900
• 512GB: Rs 3,24,900
• 1TB: Rs 3,74,900
• 2TB: Rs 4,49,900

iPhone Duo specifications and features

The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display when folded. Once opened, the device offers a 7.6-inch main display. Both screens support ProMotion and Always-On functionality, with brightness reaching up to 3,000 nits. The inner display also features an anti-reflective nano-texture finish designed to reduce the visibility of the folding crease.

The device has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, along with a Ceramic Shield 2 cover glass and a Grade 5 titanium chassis.

The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 18 Pro. The chipset features a six-core CPU, which Apple says is 20% faster than the A19 Pro, a seven-core GPU with a 40% performance improvement and a dual 16-core Neural Engine.

The foldable smartphone uses dual batteries placed inside its two halves. Apple claims up to 31 hours of continuous video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer screen, while typical usage is rated at around 24 hours.

For photography, the iPhone Duo gets a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system comprising a stabilised main camera with 2x optical-quality zoom and a 48MP ultra-wide camera. A 12MP Center Stage camera is placed on the outer display, while the inner screen features an under-display FaceTime camera capable of recording 1080p video.
