Watch: Monkey grabs district magistrate's glasses in Vrindavan, video goes viral

There are many places in India, where you can encounter those notorious gangs of snatcher monkeys, who would steal anything from your hands in the blink of an eye to leave you distraught. Mathura, the holy city of India, which is also the birthplace of lord Krishna, is also known for its monkey menace. Hordes of these hungry monkeys can be often seen rampaging through houses in search of food while causing a lot of trouble for everyone.

Recently, a video has gone viral on the Internet, where a Monkey can be seen stealing the spectacles of a senior government official and cops had to struggle a lot to retrieve the item from the smart animal. The incident occured, when DM Mathura Navneet Singh Chahal had visited Mathura's famous Banke Bihari temple to probe the Janmashtami stampede incident. As the DM was moving across a route, a monkey swiftly lept over and grabbed his spectacles. What happened afterwards really caught the attention of netizens, as cops had to put in a lot of effort to retrieve the glasses.

The video of the incident was shared on Twitter by Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Praveen Kaswan. “If you had not seen someone more powerful than the District Magistrate of a District in India. Monkey snatches glasses from DM Navneet Chahal in Vrindavan, Mathura. After some pleading, the monkeys returned the glasses,” the caption read.


The video shows policemen trying different tricks to coax the monkey as he jumped around and kept them busy. It has already garnered more than 86 thousand views and 1700 likes on Twitter.

One of the users commented that Vrindavan city of UP has become a hotspot for these notorious monkeys who steal all sorts of items and they expect people to give them something to eat or drink in exchange for these items.
