Monkey Odisha viral video
An interesting wildlife moment from Odisha’s Kendrapara district has gone viral after a video showed an entire troop of monkeys leaping into a river to rescue one of their own from a crocodile. The clip, widely shared on social media, captures a rare and risky act of collective defence that has stunned viewers.

The incident took place near a riverbank in Kendrapara, an area known for crocodile movement. A monkey standing close to the water suddenly came under attack when a crocodile lunged out and tried to pull it into the river. For a few seconds, the monkey appeared helpless.

Troop jumps in without hesitation

The video then shows an unexpected turn. As soon as the attack begins, the entire troop of monkeys jumps into the river together. Despite the clear danger, they swim across as a group, creating chaos around the crocodile and refusing to abandon their injured companion.

This sudden show of unity appears to catch the crocodile off guard.

Faced with resistance from multiple monkeys, the crocodile retreats and lets go of its target. The troop quickly regroups on the other side of the riverbank.

The dramatic escape has drawn strong reactions online.

Social media calls it “a lesson in unity”

Users across platforms described the moment as an “incredible display of animal instinct,” “pure loyalty,” and a “lesson in unity.” Many said it was rare to see animals confront a predator like a crocodile in such a coordinated way.

Wildlife enthusiasts note that monkeys are known for strong social bonds, but taking on a crocodile carries extreme risk. The incident underlines the intelligence and emotional depth often seen in social animals when one member of the group is in danger.
