A few days ahead of their opening match against India at the ICC T20 World Cup Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan was seen at the nets in Brisbane facing up to a few throwdowns.

One of the videos from the Gabba nets uploaded by Pak TV showed Rizwan briefly interacting with an Indian fan who was watching from the sidelines.

The fan first asked Rizwan whether he could bowl leg spin to him. “Mai daalu leg-spin?” he asked. Rizwan first ignored and then turned back and smiled and said, “Peshawar aa jao (Come to Peshawar)." The Pak opening batter hails from that city.

The fan could then be seen telling him that he is from India.

Rizwan is currently the World number 1 ranked batter in T20I cricket and has been a consistent performer for Pakistan. He is the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket this year and also finished as the highest run-scorer during the recent Asia Cup 2022.

Both Rizwan and his fellow opening batter and captain Babar Azam have scored loads of runs over the last year in T20 cricket, massively improving their strike rates in the recent seven-match home series against England.

The Pakistan pair occupy No. 1 and No. 3 spots in the world T20 rankings and have been winning hearts not just because of their performances on the field but also because of the humility with which they carried themselves off it.

Babar is the only the sixth batter in the world to surpass 3,000 T20 International runs despite having a below-par Asia Cup in the UAE, where he only tallied 68 runs in six games. But he quickly returned to form against England with a century at Karachi and an unbeaten 87 at Lahore.

Rizwan was named ICC player of the month after scoring seven half centuries in 10 T20s last month, including three in the Asia Cup and four against England at home.
