Watch: Man drives autorickshaw on to railway platform, gets fined

The auto driver, identified as Vinod Pandey, was fined Rs 500 under the Railway Act for driving his vehicle onto platform number one of Kurla station.

A man who was seen in a video clip last week driving his autorickshaw on to a railway platform in Mumbai has been fined by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The auto driver, identified as Vinod Pandey, was fined Rs 500 under the Railway Act for driving his vehicle onto platform number one of Kurla station.

A railway official said Pandey was possibly confused about how to exit the big, sprawling station

"He had driven his family to the station and then moved towards the south of the station believing he was taking an exit road," PTI quoted an official as saying.

A video of the act went viral on social media, and while some people saw it as hilarious others demanded action against the driver.

The Railway Police Force Mumbai Division then tweeted saying they were taking the Twitter complaint seriously and acting on it.

"After seizing the auto-rickshaw and bringing the auto driver to RPF post-Kurla, a case was registered against him under CR No.1305/22 U/S 159 RA and the accused was arrested on 12/10/2022 and produced before the Hon'ble 35th Court of CSMT," the RPF tweeted.

The auto-rickshaw driver was then by the court and made to py a fine of Rs 500.
