The ordinary bowling, over-throws and the dropped catch by Suryakumar Yadav typified a day when everything went wrong for India. Chasing at par total of 169, England openers gave their side a powerful start. Both the batsman didnt let Indian bowlers to settle down and started hitting boundaries right from the first over. After a decent batting effort, the Indian bowlers were blown out of park as both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh were smashed around the park mercilessly in the powerplay.


England captain Buttler (80 not out) set the tone with three boundaries off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's opening over but it was Hales (86 not out off) who butchered the Indian attack into submission. The Men in Blue had no answers for the England batting. The opening batter achieved the target in just 16 overs.

Earlier, India managed to set up a target of 169 after Hardik Pandya rose to the occasion to play a blazing half-century knock, guiding India to 168/6. Pandya's late flourish propelled India to a par score after a slow start. Virat Kohli also scored a half century.


Electing to field, England dismissed KL Rahul in the second over after the batter slashed a boundary over point on the first ball of the innings. The right-hander Indian opener not replicate his last match's performance and could only muster 5 runs.
