What Was Operation Sindoor
Launched on May 7, Operation Sindoor was India’s calibrated response to the Pahalgam terror attack in April, which claimed 26 innocent lives. The operation targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), eliminating over a hundred militants, according to defence sources. The Russian-origin S-400 air defence system played a crucial role in neutralising airborne threats. The campaign also highlighted India’s integrated defence capabilities, with the Army and Navy providing coordinated support. BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, loitering munitions, and advanced drones were deployed during the four-day operation, ultimately forcing Pakistan to seek a ceasefire.
