Watch: Elephant uses a car to relieve itch, ends up damaging it

Watch this video of an elephant partially destroying a car apparently after it suffered an itch.

What exactly was that elephant trying to do?

That's what many would ask when they watch this video of an elephant partially destroy a car apparently after it suffered an itch.

The video tweeted by user Buitengebieden begins with an elephant coming out from a wooded area in an unidentified location and walking up to a sedan which has stopped on the road

The elephant first proceeds to check the left front tyre, planting a foot on it and lifting the other as if to see it would take its weight.

Then it disdainfully walks across to the front of the sedan and rubs its rear on the bonnet as if trying to relieve an itch.

The next step is alarming for those who watch. It goes to other side of the car and tries to step on to the bonnet as if the car was a big stool at a circus.

There is a sound of steel crumpling and glass splintering as the jumbo tries to place all four feet on the front hood of the car, but then, as cameras go click-click, it fails to keep balance.

At this some part of the hood comes off, the pachyderm kicks the steel plate away, and could be heard trumpeting as the car swiftly backs away from the scene.

The video went viral and many on Twitter shared their own hilarious takes on the incident.

Some suggested the pachyderm was using the car as toilet paper.

Others wondered whether insurance would cover the damages suffered by that car.
