Vivo V80 launch date in India

The Vivo V80 was launched in India on October 6, 2026. Vivo had announced the launch event for 12pm IST, where the company unveiled the new V-series smartphone. The phone is positioned as the successor to the Vivo V70 and arrives with upgrades across the camera, display, battery and software.

Vivo V80 display

The Vivo V80 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which should make scrolling, animations and compatible games appear smoother. The display offers a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, while the HBM brightness is rated at 1,800 nits. Vivo also lists support for a P3 wide colour gamut and 459ppi pixel density.

The company has also added an ultra-low brightness mode that can reduce the screen to as low as 1 nit for nighttime use.

Vivo V80 camera

Camera performance is one of the main attractions of the Vivo V80. The phone comes with a triple-camera setup at the back, developed with ZEISS. The rear camera system consists of:

• 50MP ZEISS OIS main camera

• 50MP ZEISS Night Telephoto camera

• 8MP ZEISS ultra-wide camera

The primary camera uses Sony's LYTIA 700V sensor and supports optical image stabilisation. The telephoto camera uses an IMX882 sensor, also has OIS and supports 3x optical zoom. For selfies and group photographs, the Vivo V80 gets a 50MP ZEISS Group Selfie camera with autofocus and a 92-degree field of view.

The smartphone supports 4K video recording, including 4K at 60fps, along with Vivo's cinematic video features. The camera software also includes AI-based creative tools for photographs.

Vivo V80 processor and performance

The Vivo V80 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mobile platform. It is built on a 4nm process and uses an octa-core CPU with a peak clock speed of 2.8GHz. The Indian model comes with 8GB RAM and storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. Vivo uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The phone also supports extended RAM through software, with Vivo listing up to 16GB of expandable RAM capacity.

Vivo V80 battery and charging

Battery capacity is another major upgrade on the Vivo V80. The smartphone packs a 7,200mAh battery, which Vivo describes as the largest battery used in its V-series smartphones launched in India. The phone supports 90W FlashCharge. Vivo says the V80 can reach 50% charge in about 30 minutes when using its fast-charging mode. Actual charging times can vary depending on usage and other conditions. The company claims up to 14 hours of navigation and up to 39.5 hours of local video playback in its laboratory tests. These figures should not be treated as typical everyday battery performance.

Vivo V80 software

The Vivo V80 runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. It is among the first Vivo V-series phones in India to ship with the new software platform. The phone includes AI-focused features such as Snap Note, Pet Pals and Security Shield. Vivo has also promised up to six years of security updates, although the exact availability of updates can vary by market and device conditions.

Vivo V80 design and other features

The Vivo V80 measures 157.52 x 74.33 x 7.69mm and weighs about 203 grams. It has a glass back and a 3D ultrasonic single-point fingerprint sensor. The smartphone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, offering protection against dust and water under specified laboratory conditions. Vivo notes that water and dust resistance can reduce over time and that liquid damage is not covered under warranty. Connectivity options include 5G, dual SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS and USB Type-C.
