Vishwakarma Aarti: Know puja muhurat, rituals, samagri and how to perform puja

Vishwakarma Puja 2026 date and Kanya Sankranti time

Vishwakarma Puja is observed on Kanya Sankranti, the solar transition during which the Sun enters Kanya Rashi, or Virgo, in the sidereal zodiac, according to the Hindu Panchang.

In 2026, the festival will be observed on September 17. The Kanya Sankranti will take place at 7:58 AM IST.

Unlike several Hindu festivals that are determined by a lunar Tithi, Vishwakarma Puja is associated with the Sun's transition into Kanya Rashi.

Vishwakarma Puja 2026 Puja Vidhi

Devotees traditionally begin the day by taking a bath and wearing clean clothes. The place of worship is then cleaned before the puja is started.

A wooden chowki can be covered with a clean yellow or red cloth, after which the idol or picture of Lord Vishwakarma is placed on it. Gangajal may be sprinkled around the place of worship. Tools and equipment used for work are also cleaned and kept ready for the ritual.

Flowers, garlands, akshat and roli are offered to Lord Vishwakarma. Devotees may also apply tilak and akshat to their tools and machinery.

A water-filled kalash is placed on the designated worship arrangement and decorated with roli and akshat. The supplied puja method includes chanting the Vishwakarma mantra and sprinkling the sanctified water around the deity and machines before offering flowers.

The worship is then completed by lighting a lamp made with desi ghee and offering sweets, fruits and panchmeva to Lord Vishwakarma.
