India missed a few run-out chances but the most glaring error on the field was when former India skipper Virat Kohli dropped a dolly to give Aiden Markram a reprieve in the 12th over of South Africa's chase.
The ball went straight into the hands of Kohli in the deep but Kohli, one of the best fielders in the present team, ended up dropping it.
It was one of the easiest of catches and bowler Ravichandran Ashwin's shocked expression told the whole story. Neither captain Rohit Sharma nor the fans could believe Kohli dropping the catch.
Markram was batting on 35 when Kohli dropped him. The right-handed batsman went on to score a half-century and finished at 52 off 41 to play his part in the win. Markram's catch could have surely made a difference and that dropped chance proved too costly for Team India.
After the match, Indian fans were quick to dig out a 2018 tweet by Kohli praising Markram. "Aiden Markram is a delight to watch!", Kohli had tweeted back then.
Kohli was trolled over that tweet, with one user asking, "So, what was the need to drop a catch."

The last two games, we were pretty good in the field. We couldn't hold our chances, we missed a few run-outs. We need to keep our heads high and take a learning from this game," captain Rohit Sharma said after the match.
