Viral video of cop thrashing old man on Jabalpur railway platform, action taken

A video of a police constable mercilessly kicking and punching an old man on the platform of a railway station has gone viral on social media shocking viewers.

In the 28-second video, the police official can be seen kicking the man on the face as he lay on the ground, and then grabbing him by the feet and dragging across the breadth of the platform. The policeman then proceeded to dangle him over the edge and kick on the lower abdomen, as the video ends.

The video was seemingly shot from inside a train. There was no official confirmation on it, but an online report of Times Now identified the constable as Anant Sharma, and the name of the victim is Gopal Prasad. The incident reportedly happened at the Jabalpur railway station.


ANI reported quoting the Superintendent of Police, Rewa that the constable has subsequently been suspended.

The video was widely shared on Twitter and Facebook, and many users expressed their shock and anger.
