Viral video: Man laughs as pet pit bull dog mauls child inside rickshaw

A disturbing video has gone viral on social media platform X, showing a pit bull attacking a child inside a rickshaw while its owner appears to watch and laugh.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on July 17, 2025, in PMGP MHADA Colony, Mankhurd, Mumbai. According to reports, the child was injured by the pit bull owned by 43-year-old Mohammad Sohail Hasan Khan, an AC repair technician.

The child was playing inside a parked rickshaw when Khan allegedly released his dog and sat inside with it, allowing the animal to bite the child on the chin and hand. Shockingly, Khan reportedly laughed during the attack and made no effort to stop the dog. The dog then chased and further injured the boy outside the rickshaw.



Footage circulating online appears to show the horrifying moment, sparking public outrage and renewed debate over the responsibility of owners of aggressive dog breeds.

Following a complaint, Mankhurd Police registered a case at 3:28 am on July 18 under sections 291, 125, and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). However, Khan was not arrested and was instead released after being served a notice under Section 35(3) of the BNS.

The incident has reignited discussions over banning certain aggressive dog breeds. In 2023, the central government had proposed restrictions on the import, breeding, and sale of 23 breeds — including Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Wolf dogs, Terriers, and Mastiffs — citing public safety concerns. However, the Centre later clarified that the ban has not yet been enforced.

Commenting on the video, one X user wrote, "I like Dogs. but this is not a kind of behavior any pet owner should ever do. I hope people would have thrashed this ashole before getting arresting him... How come someone can do this to a child..."

"It's all fun and game untill something serious unexpected accident happens," wrote another.
