"While our great nation, Bharat, provides these sanctuaries as a testament to our ancient values of worship, the responsibility of their Shuddhi (purity) lies with us. These are spaces for the seeker, the devotee, and the quiet soul. Let us treat every inch of these prayer rooms as a Punya Kshetra. May they remain realms of profound silence and deep spiritual connection," her post read.

Madhavi Latha chants Durga Suktam at Delhi Airport

The frame of the camera captures some burqa-clad women in the room. While the post attracted various reactions from people, some praised Madhavi Latha for her public display of devotion and the assertion of her faith. Others accused her of "breaking a rule and making others uncomfortable".

The Congress' National Coordinator for Social Media and Digital Platforms, Mohammad Waseem, tagged the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and former minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, asking the authorities to take action against her. "@AAI_Official Pls take action as prayer room is only for silent prayers and meditation. This women is breaking rule and making other people uncomfortable by doing prayer with sound and camera," he wrote. "In the Prayer Room and Library, SILENCE should be maintained. Why are you chanting aloud ??," asked another.

A person named Harun Khan on X said, "She is Madhavi Latha BJP leader from Hyderabad. She went to the women’s prayer room at Delhi airport. Muslim women were offering namaz there, when she started reciting Durga Stuti. She tried to provoke and disturb the Muslim women. What kind of behavior is this?"

Another person, Sathyamoorthy V, was harsher still, writing, "Cut the crap. You put on a show getting some Muslims on your frame and showing you are pious whatever... but actually you are a hate monger and bigot".

Madhavi Latha's supporters pushed back just as hard as her critics. "How reciting Durga Stuti is provoking," questioned a person.
