The accused, of I Stage, BTM Layout, was reportedly spotted riding a two-wheeler without a helmet on Dr Marigowda Road around 11.30am by head constable Sidrameshwara Kaujalagi. When the constable took out his mobile to click a photo of Shafi, the bike rider stopped and yelled at him.

A police officer told Times of India that the accused confronted the constable, stating he would surrender his number plate for photographic evidence. He then forcibly took Kaujalagi's mobile phone and attempted to flee.

“However, Kaujalagi chased and stopped him. Then, the youth (later identified as Shafi) attacked Kaujalagi and bit his fingers. Hearing the commotion, a Hoysala vehicle reached the place and detained the youth,” the police official said.
