Viral video: A beer-drinking monkey is a menace in UP's Raebareli

Liquor shopkeepers in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli are fed up with a particularly nasty customer who jumps the queue, tries to steal booze from the shelves and even snatches bottles from other customers.

The nasty little non-paying customer, a monkey, was caught on camera guzzling beer - Kingfisher Strong, going by the look of the label - from a can.

It looked quite seasoned at what it was doing, holding the beer can with both hands while drinking, and once even looking inside to see how much was left.


Reports said some shopkeepers in Achalganj area even went and complained to authorities about the simian boozer but were told to just try and fend it off.

They even complained that the monkey threatened to scratch and bite anyone who tried to stop it from snatching or stealing booze.

It was not known how this particular monkey developed a taste for alcohol and how it learnt from where to get the booze. The video has been shared widely on social media.
