188 years old man rescued from Bengaluru cave? Here's the truth of the viral video

A widely circulated video claims an elderly man rescued from a cave near Bengaluru is 188 years old. Posted by Concerned Citizen, the video has amassed over 25 million views.

The post states, "This Indian Man has just been found in a cave. It’s alleged he’s 188 years old. Insane."

However, the video's authenticity and the man's age are now under scrutiny. A disclaimer added by X notes the individual may not be 188 years old as claimed.


"Misinformation! The elderly man is a Hindu Saint named 'Siyaram Baba' who lives in Madhya Pradesh, India. According to reports he is about 110 years old," reads the disclaimer, referencing Navbharat Times.


The Navbharat Times, in an article dated 2nd July 2024, claimed that the name of the person is Siyaram Baba, who resides in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. He is said to be famous in the region.

"It is said that he performed penance while standing on one leg for 10 years. Even at the age of 109, Baba reads the Ramayana without glasses and does all his work by himself. Baba speaks very little, yet devotees still flock to seek his blessings. Siyaram Baba is a saint residing at the Bhatyan Ashram, located on the banks of the Narmada River in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh," the article read.

As per the article"he is believed that he is around 109 or 110 years old". "There are differing opinions regarding his age in the surrounding areas, which is why the exact number remains uncertain. Some people even claim that Baba is 130 years old. However, Baba himself has never provided any information regarding his actual age," the article added.

D-Intent Data has also dubbed the video as misleading saying, "A video of some people helping an elderly individual has been shared, claiming that a 188-year-old Indian Man has just been found in a cave. The fact is that these claims are not true. The elderly man is a Saint named 'Siyaram Baba'."
