Sources told PTI that the central agency’s officers found the man had “no means” to afford such an expensive dog. The claim appeared to have been made just to gain attention on social media, they said.

Acting on this open-source information, ED officials visited his home to verify the claim. But they discovered the dog actually belonged to his neighbour and was not even worth Rs 1 lakh.
Photos of the dog had gone viral, but ED sources confirmed that the story was completely fake. They also told PTI that no investigation has been started under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
