Video: Thieves smash into New York jewellery store, flee with $500k jewels

A trio of thieves broke into a high-end New York City jewellery store and stole costly gems and watches, surveillance video showed.

The video tweeted by the New York Police Department showed the thieves smash their way into the Cellini jewelers on elite Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan and get away with items worth an estimated $500,000.

The men wearing black hoodies are seen smash the glass panes with a sledgehammer and then empty out the pricey items inside to black bags.


"WANTED for a Burglary@ 430 Park Avenue (Cellini Jewelers) @NYPDMTN #Manhattan on 10/15/22@ 3:33A.M., Once inside, the 3 individuals took high-end jewelry estimated value is over $500,000. Reward up to $3500 Know who they are?" NYPD wrote in their tweet.

After they finished ransacking the store, according to the police, the trio made a getaway in a silver sedan.

Masked thieves using sledgehammers to break display cases and running off with valuable goods have been reported earlier from Bronx and Brooklyn, reports said.
