A large funnel-shaped cloud formation left many guests shocked and concerned at Walt Disney World Florida, US, this week after it was spotted in the dark skies above the theme park.

A visitor captured the video of the scary looking cloud formation over Epcot, which is one of the theme parks at the Florida resort. The video was shared on Twitter and has garnered many views and comments.

Some people also speculated that it was a tornado, but later on the US National Weather Service (NWS) tweeted, "Looks like it could be a funnel cloud, hard to tell if there is any rotation in the video though."

According to The Independent, dark clouds covered most of the sky, but there were no severe weather warnings for the day.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Kegges, a meteorologist for the Orlando news channel, said the Disney cloud could also have been a skud cloud, which is more jagged and whispy than a smoother-looking funnel cloud, reported the outlet.

"This could just be a scud cloud, which is a jagged cloud that gets sucked into the updraft of a thunderstorm," Jonathan Kegges said. "Often times, scud are incorrectly identified as funnel clouds or tornadoes," he added.
