Video of Pawan Kalyan traveling to Andhra's Ippatam on the roof of his car goes viral

Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan turned heads over the weekend when he rode on the roof of his car on his way to an Andhra Pradesh village, receiving mixed responses from the internet, with many berating him for disregarding safety.

A video showing the Tollywood star's convoy went viral over the weekend, showing him perched on the roof, with multiple men perched on the footboard of the vehicle, as he made his way to Ippatam.

Kalyan was visiting Ippatam, where he was scheduled to meet residents who houses were allegedly demolished in a road widening drive.



The actor's Janasena Party alleged that the demolition is an act of vendetta because Ippatam played host to one of their meeting in March, this year. Authorities say that the demolition is only for encroachments.

Kalyan was initially barred by police from visiting the region but the actor then defied the cops and made the rest of the journey on foot.

Reports say 53 houses have been demolished by the authorities so far, with political parties Telangana Rashtra Samithi - the ruling party in Telangana - and Janasena claiming that their supporters' houses were being targeted.
