Video of Himachal Pradesh’s electricity department employees wading through knee-deep snow to restore power goes viral
After parts of Himachal Pradesh received moderate snowfall leading to power outages in several areas, electricity personnel in a viral video can be seen hiking towards the Chanshal Pass in Shimla to restore power at the earliest.

The state received a moderate snowfall combined with intermittent rains due to the influence of western disturbances, leading to power outages for several hours in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. The video, which has now been taking rounds on social media, shows six power department employees hiking towards the Chanshal Pass in Shimla to make their way to restore the electricity in the affected areas. The pass is nearly located at a height of around 15,000 feet above sea level.
The official twitter handle of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Himachal Pradesh Government identified these employees as- Shamsher Singh Thakur, Rambar, Bhagwan Singh, Jachpan, Madhan Singh and Chandra Veer. The state government has also decided to give an appreciation letter to these personnel for their efforts to restore electricity at the earliest.
Ever since the video went viral on Twitter, users have been applauding the efforts of the electricity department employees.
According to reports, around 275 roads have been closed by the state government after the moderate snowfall while 330 electricity supply schemes stopped working. The local meteorological office has also cautioned people of a wet spell in the region till January 26.
