Video of a little girl touching an armyman's feet melts hearts online

Indians are obsessed with our armed forces, which is why love and respect for the military personnel come naturally to us. This was on display in a viral video on Twitter where a young girl can be seen touching the feet of an army official.

The video was shared on Friday by Bengaluru Member of Parliament, PC Mohan. In the caption of the video, the parliamentarian said that it was the duty of every parent to raise their children as patriots.

As per media reports, the video was taken at a metro station.

In the video, the girl walks towards an army officer, apparently waiting for their train, and seeks his blessings by touching his feet. The army officer holds her face affectionately as the girl bends over to touch his feet.

The emotions in the video has overwhelmed the internet. The video was retweeted almost 15,000 times and was quoted in more than 1.1K tweets. Overall, the video has received more than 1.3 million views and over 95.7K likes. In an extended version of the video shared by another Twitter user, the girl can be seen running away shyly and turning back to salute the officer, who reciprocates the gesture.

The video garnered several comments from the netizens. A user said he got goosebumps on seeing the video, another user opined that this kind of patriotism should be taught to the next generation.

However, the video also drew flak from many users. One user said that it is not necessary to touch someone’s feet to show respect, citing the teachings of Dravidian culture. Some users asked the MP what patriotism meant for him, while others pointed out that patriotism is being used as a propaganda tool for dividing people.
