This week saw a new shot in town It was during a match played between South Australia and Tasmania in Brisbane. Left-handed batter Jake Lehmann put his front foot forward and went down on his left knee to deflect a ball from offspinner Jarrod Freeman over the keeper's head for four.
Now, that's a legit shot in limited overs cricket when the field spreads out after the powerplay overs. It looked a lot like the scoop shot, or more like the Dilscoop patented years ago by Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan, but there is a big difference - Lehmann used the back of the bat for playing it.
Now, that's rare. In fact, Cricket Australia while tweeting out the video said they would need a name for the shot.
We're going to need a name for this shot! Jake Lehmann goes over the keeper with the BACK of his bat! #MarshCup https://t.co/SP8Lqs5R0N
