Video: Man tries to kiss snake, gets bitten on lip

A young man who tried to kiss a cobra after rescuing it got badly bitten in the process, a video going viral on social media showed.

Reports said the incident took place at Bommanakatte in Shivamogga district of Karnataka and that the man in the video was a reptile rescuer.

The 30-second video clip showed the man trying to kiss a cobra on the back of its hood, and the reptile flipping over and biting him hard on the lips.


He let go off the snake in the process and it slithered away, while another man tried to hold on to its tail and stop it. At the end of the video, the snake was still very much on the loose, threatening to strike at the other man who grabbed it.

The unidentified man is reported to have survived the cobra bite. Netizens criticised him for trying to play around with an angry reptile. "Now he will not make the same mistake again, pray to God, he gets well soon," wrote a user.

Others advised on treating the animals with a bit more dignity.

There were also many who asked for confirmation whether the man was fully out of danger.
