Video: Dancer collapses during performance in Jammu , dies

A dancer in Jammu has died after he collapsed on stage in the middle of a performance, reports said Thursday.

Yogesh Gupta, who was performing the role of Goddess Parvati at the Ganesh Utsav in Bishnah area of Jammu, dropped to the floor as part of the dance and did not get up again, NDTV reported.

A video that has gone viral shows Gupta twirling around energetically during his dance, drop to floor, get up briefly , and then again drop to the floor. This is time his limbs moved slightly, but he did not get up.

The music continued with nobody realising what happened, and then another actor dressed as Lord Shiva got on stage and tried to pull him up. Is was only then people around realised he was very still.

Gupta was rushed to a hospital but could not be revived. The reported quoted sources as saying he died of a heart attack.

There was a similar incident in Kerala nearly four months ago where a singer died on stage during a performance. Veteran Malayalam singer Edava Basheer died after collapsing on stage mid-performance at a music concert in Alappuzha.
