Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw has shared a video on Twitter showcasing a glass of water stable at 180 kmph speed in Vande Bharat Express Train-2. It should be noted that Vande Bharat is completely manufactured in India.

In a minute-long video, not a single drop of water can be seen spilling from the glass and the speed meter in the mobile could be seen fluctuating between 180 kmph to 183 kmph. The minister captioned the video, "Superior ride quality. Look at the glass. Stable at 180 kmph speed."



The video has already bagged 510.8k views and 34.3K likes.

Earlier on Friday, the Vande Bharat Express train breached the 180 kmph-mark during a test run.


Vande Bharat is a semi-high-speed train. It is a self-propelled engine train, which means, it does not have a separate engine. It comes with automatic doors and air-conditioned chair car coaches and a revolving chair that can rotate up to 180 degrees.

Detailed oscillation trials with a maximum test speed of 180 kmph were conducted by Research, Design, and Standards Organisation (RDSO) team.

Several trials were conducted in Kota Division.
  • First Phase trial between Kota and Ghat ka Barana
  • Second Phase between Ghat Ka Barana and Kota
  • Third Phase between Kurlasi and Ramganj Mandi
  • Fourth and Fifth Phase between Kurlasi and Ramganj Mandi
  • Sixth Phase between Kurlasi and Ramganj Mandi and Laban
Reactions on Twitter were mixed with the majority complaining about the Indian railways. Some people also made comparisons with China and a few were praising government for its achievement.
