Mumbai witnessed chaotic scenes at Marine Drive after Team India's T20 World Cup victory procession. A large crowd gathered, resulting in injuries and property damage. An estimated 300,000 cricket fans flocked to Marine Drive to celebrate Team India's historic win. The heavy crowd led to several injuries, with at least two fans fainting and others experiencing breathing difficulties. The victory parade, featuring players on an open-top bus, concluded with a ceremony at Wankhede Stadium.

India Victory Parade: Aftermath of the Event

The aftermath showed a broken pole, scattered footwear, and dented cars. Fans climbed on car roofs and danced, causing damage. A police officer was seen carrying a woman who had fainted due to suffocation away from the crowd.

Allegations of Mismanagement

Many supporters were also seen atop trees, terraces, and poles, posing security challenges. Rishab Mahesh Yadav, a supporter at the parade, reported slipping and losing consciousness. "The crowd was increasing. I fell and got choked. I became unconscious and was taken to a nearby hospital, where I received treatment. I feel fine now. The crowd was more than necessary. There was mismanagement. The police were also not alert," he told ANI.

Ravi Solanki, caught in the area while returning from work, echoed these concerns. "The crowd kept increasing. The police were not managing the situation. People started shouting, after which some people fell on each other. It was very unorganised. There was nobody to manage. This happened between 8:15-8:45 pm," he told the news agency.

Traffic Jams and Chaos

The celebrations caused significant traffic jams in South Mumbai. Police stopped vehicular movement towards Marine Drive, leading to chaos on alternate routes.
