Veteran Telugu actor Jamuna passes away at 86, Andhra Pradesh CM, Megastar Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu pay condolences

Veteran Telugu actor Jamuna has passed away at the age of 86 on Friday after suffering from age-related ailments, at her residence in Hyderabad.

Several actors, celebrities as well as politicians paid their tribute and expressed their condolences to the family. While her mortal remains are likely to be taken to the Film Chamber for public homage, her last rites are scheduled to take place by the end of the day. Jamuna is survived by her daughter Sravanthi Juluri and her son Vamsee Juluri.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took to his official twitter handle to express grief over the demise of politician and actor Jamuna. He wrote that with her [Jamuna] death it has brought an end to the golden era artists of Telugu cinema.


Megastar Chiranjeevi also expressed his grief over the passing away of Jamuna. He said that she was one such actor who touched hearts through her work. Chiranjeevi added that even though the mother tongue of Jamuna was Kannada, she left a mark in the hearts of Telugu people through her many successful movies.



Mahesh Babu also further said that the veteran actor will forever be remembered for her iconic roles. He also shared his condolences to her family and loved ones.



Jamuna who featured in over 150 movies in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi, started her acting career with stage performances and made her screen debut with Puttillu in 1953. She has also shared screen with legends like N.T. Rama Rao, Akkineni, Sobhan Babu among others during her career. Jamuna had also won Filmfare for her performance in Hindi film Milan. The actor earlier in 1989 represented Rajahmundry constituency in Lok Sabha as an MP from Indian National Congress.
