Veteran Indian filmmaker Shiv Kumar Khurana took his last breath on Tuesday at the Brahmakumari Global Hospital in Mumbai. The director was known for making notable films in the 1970s and 1980s and is widely credited with launching legendary Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna.

According to a Times of India report, Khurana succumbed to age-related illnesses. The report mentioned that a prayer meeting would be held on Friday, expected to be attended by Bollywood celebrities. Famous Bollywood actor and television personality Vindu Dara Singh was among the first people to pay tribute to the deceased filmmaker.

Khurana has worked with several prominent actors of his day, including Ashok Kumar, Joy Mukherjee, Vinod Mehra, and Vinod Khanna. Some of his most memorable films include Inteqaam ki Aag, Hum Tum Aur Woh, and Be Abroo.


He directed at least 18 Hindi films. His last movie, Krishna Tere Desh Mein, came out in 1999 and failed to make a mark at the box office.

Remembering Khurana, Vindu Dara Singh wrote on Twitter that the director was a beautiful soul. Khurana was the one to launch Singh on the big screen alongside Trishna Kanwar in his 1994 movie Karam.
