Veteran actor, Kaikala Satyanarayana dies at 87

Veteran Tollywood actor and former MP Kaikala Satyanarayana died at the age of 87 after a brief illness, in the early hours of Friday (December 23) at his Jubilee Hills mansion in Hyderabad. Satyanarayan's last rites will be done on Saturday at the Mahaprasthanam cremation in Jubilee Hills, a family member informed. He was 87 years old, and his wife, son, and two daughters survive him.

His last rituals would be performed at the Mahaprasthanam cremation in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad (December 24). Satyanarayana appeared in over 750 films over his six-decade cinema career.

Satyanarayana was a close friend of famed actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, and he briefly entered politics. He was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha from Machilipatnam on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket in 1998, but he left politics after that.


Satyanarayana also got various prizes, including the 2011 Raghupati Venkaiah award, the 2017 Filmfare lifetime achievement award for Telugu cinema, and the Nandi film awards from the Andhra Pradesh government.

Kaikala was discovered by DL Narayana, who cast him in his 1959 film Sipayi Koothuru. Later, in 1960, NT Rama Rao cast him in his film Apoorva Sahasra Siraccheda Chintamani. B Vittalacharya gave him his first negative part in Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima, and he has excelled in negative roles ever since.

Satyanarayana founded Rama Films and produced films such as Kodama Simham (1990), Bangaru Kutumbam (1994), and Muddula Mogudu (1995). (1997).
