Varuthini Ekadashi, which is also known as Baruthani Ekadashi in many parts of India, is being observed today, April 16.

This auspicious day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Varuthini Ekadashi is observed twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. In the month of April (Vaishakha), as per Drik Panchang, this day is celebrated during Krishna Paksha in the remembrance of Lord Vishnu.

Devotees keep fast (vrat) on this day as per their belief of staying away from negative energies and evils. Devotees consider Varuthini Ekadashi to be an auspicious day when one can gain spirituality and positivity.


Varuthini Ekadashi or Baruthini Ekadashi is being observed today on the 11th day of Krishna Paksha, according to Drik Panchang in the month of Vaishakha.

After taking bath, devotees keep a fast and worship Lord Vishnu with full devotion by performing puja and lighting a diya.
Sweets are also offered to please Lord Vishnu. Puja is considered incomplete if devotees do not offer Tusli Patra to Lord Vishnu.

During the puja, devotees chant Lord Vishnu aarti and Hari Om, Rama Rama Mantras. After the fast is complete, Bhog prasad is offered to family members, which includes milk and potatoes.
