Varuthini Ekadashi's vrat katha is related to a noble and righteous king named King Mandhata, who was known for his truthfulness and devotion. One day, while meditating in the forest, a wild bear suddenly attacked him and grabbed his leg. But despite being attacked, King Mandhata endured pain and continued to pray and did not lose faith in God.

Seeing his devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared and saved him. Lord Vishnu told the king that the suffering was due to his past karmas and advised him to observe the Varuthini Ekadashi fast, which would free him from all sins and bring him peace and prosperity. The king followed the fast with full devotion. As a result, he was healed and freed from all his troubles.

On Varuthini Ekadashi, devotees perform various religious and spiritual activities on this specific day to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious day, people worship him with devotion and pure intentions as it helps removes past sins, brings happiness, peace and prosperity.

Wake up early: Vishnu devotees wake up early in the morning during Brahma Muhurat.

Sacred Bath: You should take a holy bath after waking up early.

Set up an altar: You need to take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi in the form of Shri Yantra.

Diya lighting: Devotees should light a diya (an earthen lamp) with desi ghee and light incense sticks also.

Adorn the idol: You should adorn the idol with clothes and garland.

Offerings: People should offer five seasonal fruits, dry fruits, offer home made bhog prasad such as (panjeeri, mawa barfi and milk products) tulsi patra should be included in bhog prasad.
