'Varisu' vs 'Thunivu' Box Office Collection Day 12: 'Varisu' crosses 150 crore in India

Tamil films starring Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar opened to neck-and-neck rivalry at the box office. Three of the four big south films — Varisu, Thunivu, Veera Simha Reddy, and Waltair Veerayya — have surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark, with Vijay's Varisu continuing to outperform Ajith's Thunivu. Varisu topped Ajith's heist film in its second week. Varisu gained roughly Rs 8 crore on Day 12, while Thunivu made Rs 5 crore.


Vijay's film is doing extraordinarily well at the box office. It has already become Vijay's second-highest-grossing picture, and is expected to continue to dominate the box office for another week. After entering the Rs 100 crore club, the film has now reached the Rs 150 crore club. Varisu earned roughly Rs 8-9 crore on the 12th day of its release, With this, the film's total earnings have surpassed Rs 152 crore in India



The film's Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions were delayed in theatres, although both versions performed well in their respective markets.


Thunivu opened at a stunning Rs 24 core on January 11. It immediately surpassed Varisu, however, collections dipped somewhat in the days that followed. Ajith film apparently generated Rs 5-6 crore on the 12th day of its distribution, bringing the film's total collection to above Rs 120 crore.


Both films have become box office smashes, with 'Thunivu' on track to become Ajith's highest-grossing picture, surpassing 'Valimai' revenues.
