‘Varisu’ crosses 200 crore mark at the box office. Read here

In its third weekend, 'Varisu' garnered 200 Crores across India making it the third film from Vijay after ‘Bigil’ and ‘Master’ to achieve a double century in India.

The film grossed around Rs. 9.50 crores in its third weekend, with Tamil Nadu accounting for the majority of the revenue at Rs. 8.50 crores. Outside Tamil Nadu, there was a significant reduction from the previous weekend as the run there had ended, but the hold was strong in the home state, with just a 50% dip from the second weekend.



So far, the film has earned around Rs. 135 crores in Tamil Nadu and is on track to earn a lifetime total of roughly Rs. 150 crores, making it the state's third biggest grosser. The film experienced a major collision with Thunivu in Tamil Nadu, which hampered its commerce over the holiday season; a solo release would have likely increased the picture's revenue by 10-20%.


Despite facing two major releases, the film has performed well outside of Tamil Nadu, particularly in Andhra Pradesh. The Hindi dubbed version of the conventional family drama contributed significantly, crossing Rs. 10 crores net.

The movie has also performed well internationally, earning $10.75 million (Rs. 88 crores) to date for a total worldwide gross of Rs. 292 crores. Its worldwide revenue would soon exceed Rs. 300 Crores.


'Varisu', in total, amassed a total of Rs 204 Crores at the Indian Box Office. Furthermore, in the respective territories, 'Varisu' garnered Rs 135 Crores in Tamil Nadu, Rs 14.50 Crores in Karnataka, Rs 13.50 Crores in Kerala and Rs 26.50 Crores in the Andhra region.
